Today, I will be sharing tips for buying eBay refurbished laptops.
Pencils, paper, and binders? No, this year’s most important back-to-school supply is a laptop.
Koll who is a sophomore in high school is starting this fall semester with online-only classes. That of course, means we have to get him the right device, prevent it from breaking, keep the WiFi running. But I know we aren't buying him a brand new laptop. Nearly new is the smart bet for someone who’s still learning the value of a dollar, among other things.
The good news: You don’t have to spend much more than $400 to get a laptop with a good battery and a webcam that can keep on trucking for three or four years. Buying refurbished laptops can be a great way to get a brand name item at a much lower cost.
eBay is THE PLACE to save on refurbished laptops for students. They carry the biggest selection of best-selling brands, guaranteed good-as-new, for 7th graders and college sophomores, alike.
Not only did I get a killer deal on a Laptop for Koll, but I also got some sneakers and clothes for him for back-to-school shopping. Below I am sharing some tips on how to buy refurbished laptops from eBay.
Always click on the "Feedback as a Seller" tab to see what previous buyers have said about the seller before buying an item. Check the total number of feedback comments, as well as the percentage of positive feedback to total feedback.
I like to buy from well-established retailers that have solid experience in selling computers and electronics. You can buy direct from Acer, Dell,& Lenovo.
You can also search on eBay with the “Manufactured Refurbished” filter to only show listings for refurbished laptops from the manufacturer. The items are backed by the manufacturer’s warranty.
If you aren't buying from the manufacturer, make sure to check the warranty. A new, unsealed machine should be covered under its manufacturer warranty, of course. But many refurbishers also offer warranties on their electronics.
Don’t forget to review the seller’s return policies! They may only allow returns for a very brief period, only in specific circumstances, or they may not accept them at all. Some sellers charge a restocking fee.
Although it is important to follow the tips above, you can always buy with ease of mind because of eBay Money Back Guarantee. The guarantee applies to virtually everything on their site, and there's no extra fee for coverage. It’s automatic and covers your purchase price plus original shipping on eligible purchases.
We bought our Dell laptop 3 years ago refurbished from eBay and we have gotten so much use out of it!
Thanks to eBay for sponsoring this post! All opinions are always my own.
