I'll admit we neglected our guest bedrooms and used it as a storage dumping ground. I always felt terrible when guests would come over and it's not even remotely guest-ready. I finally turned over a new leaf and made some changes! Today I’m partnering with one of my bath and bedding faves, The Company Store, to share our guest room’s new look and a step-by-step guide on how I layered the bed!

Bedroom Decor
One thing I notice when sleeping at other people's homes is that there usually isn't enough bedding.. for one thing I like the coziness of extra layers. At home, I like to sleep with a sheet + blanket + quilt + duvet year-round. Then you’ve got guests who are warm-blooded and want just a sheet plus a light quilt or blanket and also those that fall somewhere in the middle. Dressing your guest bed in layers so guests have options and can sleep however they’re most comfortable is key!
Starting with Legends Hotel™ Supima® Cotton Wrinkle-Free Sateen Fitted Sheet is a must to the basis of your layered bed. I choose these cotton sateen fitted sheet because it is wrinkle-free and feels like sleeping on silk! We have these exact sheets in our master bedroom.
Next, add the flat sheet wrong side up, and plenty of room at the top to fold over your blanket or quilt.
The next piece of bedding I add is a duvet over the top of the fitted sheet. I used these gorgeous Legends Hotel™ Organic Cotton Down Comforter for the duvet fill.
The next step is to add a Legends Luxury™ Hollins Cotton Bedspread to the bed and fold the duvet over the coverlet. This is another designer trick to making a bed look full and cozy. During the winter, guests love having the option to have multiple blankets on their bed and this is a beautiful way to add them to the bed. I love being able to introduce a new texture, pattern, or color to the duvet.
Add coordinating pillow shams that match the coverlet at the end of the bed. This pulls the design of the bedding through and adds more pattern to the bed. A great way for guests to be able to sit and lean back on it as well.
This is next where I layer in the sleeping pillows. I chose these Legends Hotel™ Supima® Cotton Wrinkle-Free Sateen Pillowcases in white to match the duvet.
Spoil your guests with luxurious towels, like these Cotton and Linen Texture Bath Towels which are all about texture! It is incredibly soft and adds a beautiful accent to the guest bathroom.
I’m a serial tosser-and-turner, and it’s often difficult for me to fall — and stay — asleep because I’m constantly thinking about what I have to tackle on my to-do list the next day. I've heard about weighted blankets but I was worried that the blanket would be restrictive and too hot (disrupting my already patchy sleep).
I love this LaCrosse™ All Seasons Weighted Blanket from The Company Store, I was able to turn onto my side pretty easily, and it didn’t cause me to overheat. Leif said that he actually notice I was more deeply asleep! I didn’t wake up once in the middle of the night, which is very rare for me, and after seven hours of solid sleep, I felt so refreshed!
Thank you The Company Store for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
