As you all know, I've been on a journey to make every corner of our new home uniquely ours. That's why I'm super excited to share my latest project with you: transforming my she-shed into a chic, modern organic office space, all thanks to Glidden Diamond Interior Paint from The Home Depot. I was inspired by gorgeous Pinterest ideas and wanted that popular limewash look without the high cost of expensive paint.
I wanted to create a space that's not just functional but also a true reflection of my style. Imagine a room that combines modern aesthetics with an organic, earthy feel – a place where creativity flows freely.
When it came to choosing the right paint, Glidden Diamond was a no-brainer for several reasons:
Affordable Quality: Glidden Diamond is the only one-coat paint + primer that starts under $30/gallon. It’s a budget-friendly choice that doesn’t compromise on quality.
Durability: This paint is ultra-scrubbable and durable, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Perfect for a space that’s going to see a lot of use!
Ease of Use: The Glidden brand is all about making your painting projects easy and hassle-free. For me, it meant getting the job done efficiently without sacrificing the fun of DIY.
Choosing the right paint can be overwhelming, but here are some tips to make the process a breeze:
Consider the Mood: Think about the vibe you want in the room. Soft, cool colors create a more tranquil atmosphere, while stronger colors can add drama.
Test in Your Space: Lighting can dramatically alter the appearance of a paint color. Always test paint samples in your space at different times of the day to see how the color changes in natural and artificial light.
Look at Undertones: Pay attention to the undertones of the paint colors. Colors can have warm (yellow, red) or cool (blue, green) undertones, impacting the room's feel.
Think About Room Size: Lighter colors can make a small room feel bigger and brighter, while dark colors can add depth and coziness to a larger space.
Consider the Finish: The paint's finish (matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, or high-gloss) can affect the color and durability. For high-traffic areas, a more durable, easy-to-clean finish like satin or semi-gloss is often recommended.
Sample Multiple Shades: Don’t be afraid to bring home multiple samples. Comparing different shades side by side in your space is crucial to making the right choice.
Coordinate with Your Decor: Ensure the paint color complements your furniture, artwork, and overall decor style.
In stores, I was drawn to 'Hourglass', 'Cool Concrete', and 'Toasted Marshmallow'. However, in my she-shed, 'Cool Concrete' was too dark, and 'Toasted Marshmallow' too pink. 'Hourglass' in a matte finish provided the perfect tranquil yet bright ambiance.
The Color: Hourglass (PPG1022-1):
After following these tips and considering my own experiences, I settled on the color 'Hourglass' in matte finish. It's a subtle, soothing shade that brings a sense of calm and sophistication to the room.
Creating a faux limewash effect is simpler than you might think, and it's a fantastic way to add texture and depth to your walls. Here’s how I did it with Glidden Diamond paint:
This approach resulted in a stunningly textured look that transformed the space, lending it a modern yet organic feel.
We installed faux beams from The Home Depot to complete the aesthetic, perfectly complementing the room's vibe.
I'm so excited about the transformation achieved with Glidden Diamond paint and can't wait to see your DIY makeovers. The Glidden brand makes it easy and affordable for me to get my job done.
Remember, a beautiful space is just a paint can away!
