One of the biggest game changers for my skin these past couple years has been sticking to a consistent skincare routine. My skincare regime tends to change based on the seasons and my skin concerns. For spring, I’m exfoliating more to get rid of my dry winter skin, and using moisture-building bases that are less heavy than those I was using in winter. But it’s not just about the products I’m using, but the order I use them and how you apply them. By applying skin care products in the most effective way, you’re making sure they’re working properly and that you’re not wasting your money on expensive skin care. Today, I’m sharing all about my spring morning skincare routine including the products I use & the order in which I use them.
So if you’re interested to find out what my spring morning skincare routine looks like, read on for more details.
First step I do is wash my face thoroughly with a gentle cleanser. I use Tula’s purifying cleanser because their products have probiotics and overall, it’s a great skincare line. You can get 20% off any Tula products using discount code GYPSYGLOW on their site.
To ensure a deeper clean I use the Luna 2 tool, which is made with tiny silicone bristles that vibrate against your face to remove dirt and leftover makeup, and unlike the Clarisonic, you never have to replace the brush heads!
Toners are misunderstood, but they are very important to use and do serve many beneficial purposes for your skin. I use Tula’s Pro-Glycolic pH resurfacing gel. This toner has 10% glycolic acid. It helps to gently exfoliates skin. It removes any dirt you might have missed while cleansing, and it also balances out your skin pH levels. To use, I put a few squirts onto my cotton pad and gently rub around my face, using upwards strokes for each area of skin.
When I’m breaking out, I use a Tula's Acne Correcting Toner with 2% salicylic acid in it, which helps with acne. As I’ve said before, don’t ignore your neck and chest area! Use upwards strokes to ensure coverage in those areas, as well.
It’s serum time! Or really, any products with vitamin C in it. Vitamin C is one of the most effective antioxidants out there when it comes to skin brightening and antiaging.
I use SkinCeuticals Award-Winning Vitamin C + E Ferulic serum. It’s an investment, but it lasts forever and is so worth it!!!
Ideal for these Concerns: Aging Skin, Dryness and Dehydration, Hyperpigmentation, Sun Damage, Free Radical Damage, Loss of Firmness, Fine Lines and Wrinkles, Dark Spots.
When I have time in the morning or feeling extra puffy, I insert my quartz roller into the routine. It’s a naturally cold stone. Therefore it naturally helps with any puffiness you might be experiencing. Roll in an upwards motions (from your chin to your cheeks) to ensure all your serum is absorbed in your skin. Be gentle in the areas around your eye, because the skin is more delicate. Note: When purchasing a quartz roller, I highly recommend getting a quality one! I’ve ordered several from Amazon, and all of them ended up breaking. I use one from Beauty Bio.
The skin under the eye is 4x thinner than the rest of your face –– therefore highly susceptible to damage. I use this eye balm because it is cooling, hydrating, and fills the lines around your eyes! It’s important to keep the under-eye area hydrated to avoid any makeup caking and help prevent damage!
Time to moisturize! There is no such thing as skin that is too hydrated, and your sunscreen should not be the stand-in for moisturizer.
Like all of the other Tula products, I use hydrating day and night moisturizer when my skin is extra dry. This product is super thick and makes my skin to feel more supple and hydrated all day. If you are more acne-prone, or have oily skin I recommend their Aqua Infusion oil-free gel-cream which is not as thick of a moisturizer and won’t cause you to break out. I love that one for spring and summer since it is so light!
I can’t emphasize this enough. If you only had time for one skincare product each morning, it had better be sunscreen. Apply some sort of SPF EVERY DAY. The absolute bare-minimum SPF you need on your face is SPF 30.
This is the perfect sunscreen. Unseen Sunscreen do NOT 1) make you pale/chalky 2) make you super greasy/shiny 3) Sit stickily on your skin and visibly in photos. It is antioxidant-rich SPF primer that preps skin for makeup while providing broad-spectrum SPF 40 and protection from blue light.
Makeup primers would normally not be considered a skincare step. But with this Face Filter Primer, it's a primer with skincare packed with probiotics, prebiotics, turmeric, chia seeds, and other skin-loving ingredients that instantly smooth the look of uneven tone and redness. As you blend this buildable formula, it releases "glow particles" that create a warm-toned, radiant base for makeup."
I’m no skin expert, but through trial and error, I've found that this morning routine has kept my skin in tip-top shape! While skin care products vary from person to person, the order you use them in can mean the difference between an effective routine and throwing money down the drain. I hope this post was helpful to you!
