But first, some context. At this time last year, I was struggling with frustrating adult cystic acne. Yup, I’m one of those people who had great skin in high school and then got cystic, hormonal acne once a few years shy of turning 30. Every month, I get inflammatory acne on my forehead that also leaves behind marks. My skin concerns changed from reducing fine lines and brown spots to also battling hormonal acne...
TULA Probiotic Skincare + Skinceuticals has brought my skin back to life since my first review! My adult acne on my forehead is gone, the scars are definitely fading, and my skin looks younger and softer from now using these products. I can actually not wear foundation and feel good about my skin for the first time in years! Their products are made with natural probiotics and clean skin superfoods. Scroll below for my daily skincare routine.
So without further ado, here is my Tula skincare routine for my hormonal acne-prone skin for the past nine months (and why they're amazing).
Day & Night:
Using a harsh cleanser can lead to dry skin and more acne. Which is why I use a gentle probiotic cleanser like Tula Purifying Cleanser, which cleanses and removes makeup without drying, keeping the healthy bacteria on my skin. As I have mentioned, I have sensitive, acne prone skin and this face wash has worked very well.
I use it with my Luna Mini, a nonabrasive sonic cleansing device. I will never use another spin brush to wash my face! This handy little guy exfoliates my face leaving it feeling clean and refreshes but it is not harsh at all like some brush head products, which can collect bad bacteria. I love that you don't have to buy brush heads for it and it is easy to clean.
Every 4 nights, I bring out the big guns. A pea size amount of Retinol 0.5 Refining Night Cream smoothed over a clean face at night. After using it I’ve noticed my skin become smoother, pores decrease in size, acne has pretty much gone away and the overall appearance of my skin improve tremendously. Retinol is a must in anyone’s routine that cares about themselves and their skin. **Note: BE SURE TO GRADUALLY ADD IT TO YOUR ROUTINE. Retinol products can be tough to get used to for sensitive skin like mine. But I really like this one and can clearly see it is working.
Day:
It is the most important product for my face. My pores are smaller. My skin glows. It is soft, moist, firm and yet supple... I apply this C E Ferulic once a day in the morning, after cleansing and toning skin. I put 4-5 drops to a dry face, neck, and chest before other anti-aging skin care products and use this rose quartz roller to apply. I too was hesitant to try this due to the price, but it's a game-changer!
Vitamin C is anti-inflammatory, and a vitamin C serum can both help clear up acne and reduce the redness associated with it—as well as improve skin texture. This product is worth the price and a little goes a long way.
Day:
After applying the serum and allowing it to absorb... I follow up with a dime-sized amount of Day & Night Cream to lock in moisture in the morning and night! It is not greasy and leaves my skin with a clean feeling! And no new acne! I only need a small amount and it has made a big difference.
I love using this rose quartz face roller to evenly apply my serums and moisturizers. Without it absorbing into the skin of my fingers during the application, it will save a lot of the products and help push it into my skin. After storing it in the fridge, I noticed how it reduced slight swelling and general puffiness.
Twice a Week at Night:
Masks are another thing I like to do about twice a week to revive my skin. Whether I’m breaking out, my skin is dry, or I need to brighten my complexion, there is a mask for everything! My all-time favorite treatment is the Exfoliating Treatment Mask. I use to be skeptical about using exfoliating masks due to my sensitive, dry, acne-prone skin. I love this mask because it’s not harsh and drying like other masks I’ve used. It has helped reduce my acne mark, smooths the texture of my skin, and helps clear any problem areas. I could go on forever about all my favorite masks!
If you have really dry skin, I love this hydrogel mask!
