Two Innovative Clean Beauty Skincare Brands That I Added In My Skincare Routine
I love discovering new clean beauty brands and today I have not one but TWO new skincare brands that I discovered on Dermstore, my go-to source for all -things skincare. HoliFrog and NUORI are both innovation clean beauty brands that I am so excited to have discovered since you guys know that I am trying to slowly switch to all clean beauty. The Truth About Shelf Life
You guys know I am obsessed with my serums and products with active ingredients (like Vitamin C, A, E, and Glycolic Acid) but I recently learned the truth about shelf life that is shocking.
Today most skincare products are formulated to last at least 30 months, that is 2.5 years, or longer. Many skincare companies just want to prolong longer shelf life to increases profitability. That is bad for two reasons. First, long shelf lives mean companies add preservatives that can lead to long-term effects on our body. Second, numerous studies have shown that commonly used active agents will most likely break down within just a few months. So I guess even if the cream smell and look good, the active ingredients may no longer be effective! I just Kondo-d my beauty haul, and, while doing so, realized that I had no idea how long all this stuff had been chillin' in my storage.
NUORI Skincare is so 'fresh' and so 'clean'
This is where Nuori Skincare differs. NUORI took on the challenge no one else would and took the approach that the best skincare products are those that are as fresh as possible.
In fact, all NUORI products are freshly blended in small batches every 10 to 12 weeks at their facilities in Denmark and promptly delivered to around the world. Ok now that we've covered serums and SPF, let's go back to skincare basics... washing our face. When we wash our faces, our pores are at their most open and permeable, like a frog’s. I tend to have clogged pores, adult acne, rough or dull skin but this Acid Wash from HoliFrog has done wonders for me! Think of it as a skin-clearing serum but in cleanser form. The key ingredients Glycolic and Mandelic Acid cleared away pore-clogging debris and dull dead skin.. Which left me with brighter smoother skin (and might I say smaller pores!). This gentle wash reduces breakouts without stripping your skin of precious moisture with Tamanu Oil to help skin heal and Rosehip Oil, an antioxidants to hydrate the skin and protect it from future environmental damage.
Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash
For those of you who have dry and/or inflamed, but love the clean-rinsing feeling of a gel cleanser, try this Milky Wash from Holifrog. I happen to overuse retinol two weeks ago (ended up with peeling skin). I started using this milk wash and it literally helped get my skin barrier back to health probably due to all the amino acids and apricot kernel oil. How do I figure out which HoliFrog cleanser to use?
I like to choose my cleanser by situation and base on how my skin is feeling For example, when I wake up in the morning, I use Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash because I’ve been sleeping all night, so I really just want to refresh my skin. Or when my skin barrier is weal, something light and hydrating is a great option for that specific situation. At night, I want something heavier duty because I need to get rid of dirt, SPF, makeup, and environmental pollutants. I like to double cleanse with Micellar water but you can also use the balm, making it an ideal first step in a double cleanse. Follow it up with Holifrog Shasta AHA Refining Acid Wash.

The two takeaways from this are: One, fresh skincare makes sense to me the same way fresh food does — it’s more nourishing and has fewer additives.
