Pat yourself on the back if you are working on your 2022 resolution. January is full of promise and positive energy so I like to use it to my advantage. Every new year, I like to reset my home by getting rid of clutter and reorganizing my home. Besides organizing, I try to cut down energy, use natural cleaning products, and do an overall home wellness check. If the past two years have taught us anything, it's that our homes are an extension of ourselves. Indoor air quality is one of the most important indicators of the environment we’re living in.
This year, I am making it a resolution to improve indoor air quality and change filters regularly. I found out that the air indoors can be up to 5 times more polluted than the air outdoors. My most recent purchase–a Blueair DustMagnet™ air purifier, has been a game-changer! Today, I want to share with you all the best air purifiers to help reset your home going into 2022.

The purpose of an air purifier is to literally clean the air in your home. They are designed to remove impurities such as mold, smoke, dust, odors, pet dander, bacteria, viruses and even microplastics. The way air purifiers usually work is with a fan that sucks in the air and moves it through a filter. The Blueair Air Purifier filters are made to catch those airborne particles and pollutants and the clean air is then pushed back out. Each air purifier can work for a different size room so make sure to measure your space before making the purchase.
I recommend using an air purifier during the fall and wintertime especially because we spend most of our time indoors then. During the colder months, bacteria and viruses can cause colds and flu to spread easier. The best air purifiers can help remove these germs that would normally stay in the air for hours! I don’t know about you, but I’m doing everything I can these days to avoid being sick so this was a no-brainer for me.
Traditionally, air purifiers were primarily marketed towards those who suffer from asthma and allergies. This is because polluted air is known to worsen symptoms of both conditions. And while they are still extremely beneficial to those groups of people, they’re actually ideal for everyone! I love having a purifier in my home because the air inside can be up to 5 times more polluted than outside. Air purifiers are a simple fix to this and don’t take up much room. I can just turn it on and forget about it!
If you have pets, an air purifier is an absolute must-have. Cats and dogs can cause odors, dander, and bring allergens into our homes from outside. This can trigger allergies even for people who don’t usually suffer from seasonal allergies. An air purifier is made to remove those contaminants from the air to lessen the chance of allergy symptoms.
Not only may your home be a source of airborne allergens and mold, but it may also be a source of indoor toxins from cleaning products, personal care products, and more.
When looking for an air purifier for my home, there were a few key factors I took into account:
In the end, I decided on the DustMagnet air purifier by Blueair and I couldn’t be happier! Blueair is a company dedicated to cleaner air and was founded over 20 years ago. Their focus is on sustainability, quality, and design which are all factors that are important to me as well. While Blueair does offer several different purifiers, I landed on the DustMagnetfor a few reasons.
First and foremost, Blueair’s advanced HEPASilent technology is highly energy-efficient, while being ultra-quiet! Blueair air purifiers are Energy Star certified, consuming less energy than a traditional light bulb on their lowest setting – making a lower impact on the environment!
It attracts 99% of airborne dust particles before they land on your floor or furniture. This means that you won’t have to dust and vacuum as often. It’s basically a win-win all around!
I LOVE how the DustMagnet air purifier looks in my space. Not only does it clean the air, I but it also doubles as an end table! Oftentimes people try to hide their bulky air purifiers but with the DustMagnet, that’s not necessary. The design was actually made to look like a piece of Scandinavian-style furniture instead of a clunky machine. The DustMagnet is available in two different colors–standard white and a gray textile option.
On the front of the air purifier, there is an LED light which changes colors based on the level of contaminants in the air. The DustMagnet will then automatically increase the fan speed when pollution levels rise.
What’s really cool about the DustMagnet is that it’s not your traditional air purifier. Blueair offers an app to go along with your purifier which allows you to adjust the settings, show the pollutant levels in your home, and track the life of your current filter all from your phone!
The DustMagnet air purifier is also compatible with smart devices which means you can control it with your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
Lastly, I love that the DustMagnet is easy to clean. The last thing I needed was another appliance that was difficult to clean. The DustMagnet uses charged pre-filters that are made out of stainless steel. This means they’re durable and can be cleaned easily with a vacuum. Blueair’s purifiers are also eco-friendly and are even Energy Star certified. They use less energy than a traditional lightbulb when they’re on the lowest setting! This results in a lower electric bill and lessened impact on our environment.
Since I incorporated the DustMagnet into my living room, I can actually tell that my air is cleaner. It just smells and feels fresh. I am so glad that I made the choice to have cleaner air in my home and the DustMagnet truly has made there be one less thing to worry about!
