Start with the perfect base. Your base layer should be something you’re comfortable in that can be worn alone or layered. Think bodysuits, leather pants, simple jumpsuits, etc. For me, I went for this satin slip dress from Nordstrom. It’s simple yet sexy with its criss cross-back straps and flattering fabric. I love this dress because while it’s a great holiday outfit idea, it can also work year-round for dates, nights out with the girls, and so much more. You can even dress it down with sneakers and a denim jacket. A slip dress is always an ideal party option because it looks greatly layered with other pieces (which is how I’m wearing it) and also when worn by itself. Your base piece should always be versatile and put together just in case you want to take off your outer layer!

Layer it on. Adding layers to any outfit is the easiest way to stay both chic and warm during your holiday celebrations. If your party is on the casual side, try opting for a denim or leather jacket. If it’s a dressed-up occasion like mine is, a blazer is always the perfect option. When I saw this double-breasted velvet blazer, I knew I had to have it. It’s in this deep jade color that’s great for the holidays but can also be worn throughout the fall and winter seasons. A statement blazer adds depth and warmth to your look without being too bulky or heavy.

Don’t forget the shoes! The holiday season is the one time you can go all out with your shoes. I chose these stunning ankle strap pumps in the perfect green shade to complement my blazer.
